Past for iChat is a small application for opening and viewing old chat log files created by the Apple iChat app (.ichat and .chat files) in macOS Big Sur, Monterey and later versions. iChat was the predecessor to the new and improved Messages app.
Starting with macOS Big Sur, the updated Messages app no longer supports opening old iChat chat log files. Past for iChat supports your history by allowing you to open it.
The app also features easy export of chat logs to Markdown and a Quick Look plugin for previewing chat logs in Finder, Spotlight, or other apps.
Note. This app is only useful for people with older iChat chat log files (usually older than 5 years). those. This app does not open files created by Big Sur/Monterey itself, nor does it open iPhone chat logs.
