Managing background applications
CPU usage by apps running in the background can cause poor performance, shorten battery life, cause heat, and cause your Mac's fans to spin. App Tamer allows you to manage and reduce overall CPU usage by monitoring inactive background applications. With App Tamer you can slow down programs running in the background or stop them altogether.
Battery-sensitive settings
You don't have to constantly slow down or turn off background applications. App Tamer allows you to adjust settings, limiting programs only when your Mac is not plugged in and the battery is below a certain percentage.
Control from the menu bar
Get quick access to App Tamer from your Mac's menu bar. View CPU-hogging processes, notice stopped or slow apps, pause App Tamer, and quickly access app settings.
Color indicators show increasing CPU usage
App Tamer is always there to keep your Mac productive. By default, the app changes the color of the menu bar icon to indicate an increase in your device's CPU usage.
CPU usage notifications
Receive a message as soon as an application starts using too much CPU in a certain period of time. You can configure both the period and percentage of CPUs that trigger notifications. Moreover, you can exclude your favorite applications from this rule.
