About
Multitouch (formerly TouchOven) associates a custom action with the Magic Trackpad or Magic Mouse. For example, a three-finger click can perform a paste. Improve your workflow with keyboard shortcuts, browser tab management, middle-clicking, and more.
Record keystrokes or paste text in a Multitouch application
Sometimes you have tedious tasks that require you to just type the same text in a bunch of different places, and copying and pasting just isn't enough. There are now two options in Multitouch that can help you: record keystrokes and insert text. Both of these options can be bound to a gesture or keyboard shortcut.
If you've used this app before, setting up either one should be pretty easy. Both of them can be selected under the Shortcut Keys and Key Input category. To record keystrokes, start by selecting the text area that appears, and then enter the keystrokes on your keyboard. To “Insert Text,” simply place the text you want in the text area.
A few things to know about keystroke recording:
When entering keystrokes, you just need to know that this is not normal text input - it will record every keystroke, including backspace.
Additionally, modifier flags are recorded even if you don't see them in the text area. This means that it can act as a sort of composite keyboard shortcut logger, although this is not the intended purpose. Also keep in mind that the recorded keystrokes will play back without a time delay, regardless of the time taken to enter the keystrokes. If you perform a customized keystroke recorder gesture/shortcut, you will notice that all keystrokes are played sequentially instead of all at once.
