WiFi Signal: Strength Analyzer
Intuitibits
About
WiFi Signal is a utility that monitors the quality of your Wi-Fi connection in real time: it displays signal strength, noise levels, transmission speed, and the active channel, while also helping to diagnose wireless network issues.
The application runs in the background and displays key metrics for your current network directly in the menu bar.Click the icon to view detailed information, graphs, and notifications regarding connection changes.
Features:
Detailed Connection Information:
• Network Name (SSID), BSSID (Access Point MAC Address), Hardware Vendor
• Signal Strength (in dBm and percentage), Noise Level, SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio)
• Frequency (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz), Channel Number, Channel Width (20/40/80/160 MHz)
• Transmission Rate (Tx Rate), MCS Index, Number of Spatial Streams (NSS)
Customizable Menu Bar Display:
• Fully customizable template: choose which metrics to display and in what order
• Two-line display support for showing more data
• Annotations: assign user-friendly names to access points ("Kitchen," "Office") for quick identification
Real-time Graphs and Monitoring:
• Detachable window featuring graphs for signal, noise, SNR, and speed
• Visual assessment of connection quality based on real-time measurements
Smart Notifications and Logging:
• Alerts for access point changes, channel changes, and speed drops
• Event log for analyzing connection issues
• Threshold-based notifications (e.g., "signal dropped below -75 dBm")
Channel Recommendations:
• Analysis of airwave congestion and suggestions for available channels
• Note: Recommendations are based solely on visible networks and do not account for hidden sources of interference
Integrations and Compatibility:
• Annotation synchronization with WiFi Explorer / WiFi Explorer Pro (from the same developer)
• Support for WPA3, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), and Wi-Fi6E (6 GHz on compatible Macs)
• Light / Dark theme; adapts to system settings
