Fakin' The Funk?
Ulrich Decker Software
About
Fakin’ The Funk?— an audio file quality analyzer that detects "fake" tracks with artificially inflated bitrates (e.g., 128 kbps → 320 kbps), and also identifies corrupt or unreadable files—all in a fully automated batch mode.
The application analyzes the spectral structure of the audio stream and compares the declared bitrate/frequency against the actual values. If a file has been "upscaled" or is damaged, the algorithm detects anomalies (such as high-frequency cutoff) and reveals the true quality parameters.
Key Features:
• Automated Batch Processing — check thousands of files with the click of a single button.
• Undeterred by audio optimizers (e.g., Platinum Notes).
• Identifies not only "fakes" (transcoded files) but also broken/unreadable files (those with damaged structures or length mismatches).
• Supports all popular formats: MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG, OPUS, WMA, AAC, ALAC, WAV, MPC, SPX, TTA, and others.
• Exceptional Speed — processes approximately 1,000 files in 40 seconds on an SSD-equipped system with an i7 processor.
• Built-in Spectrogram Analyzer — displays the frequency cutoff point, allowing you to visually verify the results.
• Built-in Audio Player — instantly preview any suspicious file.
• Deep System Integration — supports Drag-and-Drop functionality for handling results.
• Automatically rename, move, or delete "bad" files according to your preferences.
