About
Scudo is a hybrid firewall that combines incoming traffic filtering at the network level and outgoing connection control at the application level. It's designed for those who want to protect their data without having to navigate complex network settings, and it offers a simple, intuitive interface with a menu bar icon.
This is a product from the developer of the famous Murus and Vallum utilities, but Scudo is positioned as a simpler and friendlier alternative.
Two levels of protection.
The main feature of Scudo is the combination of two types of filtering:
Outbound traffic control (Outbound Firewall).
This feature monitors which applications on your Mac are trying to access the Internet. When any program tries to establish a connection for the first time, Scudo shows a notification and you decide:
• Allow or block access.
• Make the rule temporary or permanent.
• Configure access for a specific IP address, range or domain.
This prevents programs from connecting to servers without your knowledge, sending telemetry, or sharing your data without permission.
Control of incoming traffic (Inbound Firewall).
Scudo protects your Mac from unwanted connections from outside. If a remote computer tries to connect to your services (File Sharing, Remote Login, Screen, etc.), the application will also show a notification and ask for confirmation. You can create your own rules for any network services or use the built-in library.
